EcoCar System, a subsidiary of Green Capital City, announced today that it was going to start offering cab service in Warsaw, using only environmentally friendly fleet of electric and LPG vehicles. The company said it would start operations in the Polish capital in mid February 2012.
EcoCar System will start with 130 cars – 15 of them electric and 115 LPG. By end of 2012, the company said, it will have 500 cars, including 150 electric ones, which will be converted Fords Mondeo.
EcoCar System is going to offer a rate of PLN 2.2 (€0.5) per kilometer, close to Warsaw average. The price is a reflection of the high cost of converting a car to run on electricity. An electric cab will be capable of covering 150-kilometer distance before it will have to recharge.
EcoCar System will be the first cab company in Poland to use electric-only cars. Other companies have tended to use hybrid car fleet so far.
